Reducing our carbon footprint

Viva Energy has already been part of the renewables transition, after entering into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Acciona who own and run the Mt Gellibrand wind farm near Colac. The agreement secures pricing for Viva Energy on approximately 100GWh per annum of electricity, which represents around a third of our Geelong Refinery’s annual electricity needs.

Now, a solar energy farm could power about 20 percent of the refinery’s electricity needs and reduce our carbon footprint.

We own 41 hectares of vacant land immediately north of the refinery, which would allow the installation of photovoltaic (PV) panels with the capacity to generate around 25MW of clean energy.
