Viva Energy is proud to have successfully refuelled the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) ship, HMAS Parramatta, at our Gore Bay Terminal in Sydney Harbour last week. The refuelling marked another significant milestone in our strategic partnership with the Australian Defence Force (ADF) - a vitally important customer for the company.

Viva Energy’s Strategic Account Manager for Defence, Richard Xin, said that proving our capability to refuel a variety of Naval vessels directly from our facilities gives the ADF options for their supply chain and strengthens fuel supply security.

“We continue to work very closely with the ADF to explore a variety of options to strengthen their fuel supply chain, and this trial exemplifies our innovative approach to the needs of this key customer.”

Director General Fuel Services, Air Commodore Stephen Winterton CSC said ’It is critical for the Australian Defence Force to have strong partnerships with industry. This refuelling further demonstrates that Viva Energy can deliver a safe, reliable and innovative fuel supply chain for us.'

HMAS Parramatta is vitally important to the RAN afloat support capabilities as a long-range frigate capable of air defence and surveillance and is fitted with state-of-the-art equipment.

The visit by HMAS Parramatta follows the successful refuelling of fleet replenishment oiler HMAS Sirius, at Gore Bay Terminal in March 2017.
