Victoria’s Kingston Garage takes out Shell’s Global Retailer of the Year award in an Australian first

Kingston Garage, located in Heatherton, south east of Melbourne, has been awarded Shell’s highest accolade, Global Single Site Retailer of the Year 2017, at a recent awards ceremony in Dubai UAE.

The garage, a Shell fuels retailer for over 50 years, is the first Australian site to win this prestigious award after successfully fending off fierce competition from 8,370 sites across more than 60 countries.

Not only did Kingston Garage take out the top gong of the night but it was also awarded Shell’s Single Site of the Year for Licensed Markets for the third time.

Kingston Garage owner, Ross Hallett, who has managed the site since 1989 said, “I am extremely proud that our site has won this much coveted award. My team and I strive daily to make each customer experience an exceptional one – from washing windscreens, checking oil and water levels, checking tyre pressures to the simple art of filling a customer’s vehicle for them.

“I am truly honoured to know that many of our customers travel across Melbourne to refuel with us because of the personalised service we offer. To me that is what it is all about and it’s a great honour to be recognised for it.”

Jennifer Gray, spokesperson for Shell’s licensee congratulated Ross and said, “This is a wonderful accomplishment that shows the dedication from Ross and his team to go above and beyond for their customers and to consistently strive to improve performance.

“Since April 2012, the site has achieved 100% on every mystery motorist shopping visit – equating to over 70 visits to date – which is truly remarkable. The sites fuel volumes have also grown year on year in a flat market, which is further evidence of the exceptional service that Ross and his team offer to each and every one of their customers.”

Shell’s annual awards assess each site against a series of key performance indicators which examine fuel volumes, safety performance, site presentation and customer satisfaction scores.
