Viva Energy’s Geelong Refinery has attracted almost 150 entries to its inaugural Club Legends Awards, which aims to uncover the greatest role models and unsung heroes at sporting clubs within the Greater Geelong region.
General Manager Refining, Thys Heyns, said his team is excited to start the shortlisting process that will see the large field narrowed down to 20 finalists.
“A prestigious panel of Geelong icons will choose the ultimate Club Legend; however, Geelong residents now have their chance to vote for the People’s Choice award winner,” said Thys.
“With total prize money exceeding $50,000 the refinery is once again demonstrating our ongoing commitment to our local community,” he said.
The Club Legend Award winner and their club will receive $5000; the Runner-up and their club will receive $2000 each and 17 finalists and their clubs will receive $1000 each.
The People’s Choice award winner and their club will receive $2000 each.
Finalists will be listed on The Indy online. Voting for the People’s Choice winner can be made until October 6 by visiting the Club Legend Awards website www.clublegend.com.au.
All winners will be honoured at the Club Legend Awards Dinner hosted by Viva Energy at Simonds Stadium on 16 October, 2017.
